I audition over 100 times per week, on average. That is the life I have chosen. I love my life. But, I get it. The grind is tough. Here’s my mindset.
Be grateful for the auditions you get. You didn’t have that opportunity before.
Be grateful for the people who listen to your auditions. They are getting to know YOU!
Be grateful for the people who send you the auditions. They have a vested interest in YOUR success.
Be grateful for the shortlists or thumbs up you get. They like you enough to say something.
Be grateful for the callbacks you get. At this point, you can do nothing but do what you do, it’s out of your hands. You are a success!
Be grateful for the jobs you get. You are a working actor, this is truly a great thing. Regardless of price or scope, you are doing what you chose to do.
Be grateful the jobs you lose. You can learn from this. A rare opportunity to either grow or recognize that things are out of your hands.
Be grateful of the clients you gain. They may be clients for life. Treat them with courtesy, respect, and gratitude. But, acknowledge, that you are hired because you are good at this.
Be grateful for the opportunity. Think about all the steps you’ve taken, the people you’ve met, and realize how many opportunities you’ve grown yourself.
These are not wishes that came true. These are creations of your hard work. Sure, there’s some luck involved, definitely timing. But, there are doors you had to step through to get here.
These doors would not even exist if you didn’t choose to step through other doors. Be grateful for others, yes! But also, be grateful for the person you are and the choices you’ve made.
